Its amazing what a little makeup can do.

Oh, Willie, I edited your post to make the image show. All you have to do is use the html tag tag at the end. Just make sure that you delete any spaces that might be between the fist and last letters of the image url.

Ooh La La!  :o I like!

So how much juice ya puttin to the 845's for how much output Willie around 1000 volts or so? I don't think I have the nads to mess around with that kind of power.  :bomb: At least not yet.

Thanks Scott for the image tip!
Hey I'm afraid of 1000 volts too! This baby is running around 525vdc and 55ma on the 845's. She starts to break up around 10watts, thats about all i need. I plan to get some better cathode resistors and caps, then do the serious listening.
This amp has Hammond 1629SE outputs. My VT-52 to 845 Parafeed SE monoblock amps have Magnaquest FS-100 OPTs. So I want to do some comparing. One of the reasons I built this amp to have 845 amp I could move around without having to move two units. So far the effort has paid off, just needs more tweaking.

Looks gorgeous and worthy of envy, Willie!!

Heck, I've got some nasty looking speaker cabinets that I was going to offer you to make your amp look good, but your 'make-up' job did it better!

Now, when we gonna get a listen....

Yer just too good!

Best,

10 watts into the Altec horns :o  Good grief, did you have earplugs in (I hope!).

You may want to give one of the power film resistors a listen. Either the Caddock or the Vishays in the TO220 cases sound fabulous. Super clean and crisp without being 'hard' sounding at all. They are a little pricey at $4-$7 each but well worth it and can handle 20 watts of dissipation (or more if you use a heat sink).

Once you get her tweaked, I really want to give her a listen. The only 845 I've played with was a Dehavilland (sp).

Ah, half a Kw isn't quite so scary. I wanna hear her sing too. I'd love to listen to the altecs also. Looks like it's bout time for a franken-amp get together. So when can we come over and play Willie? I'd even consider bringing my new horns down if they wern't so freakin heavy!

PS where ya been Scott, I haven't seen any posts from ya in awhile.

Been really busy at work then trying to fix up my moms old house so we can put it on the market and them been under the weather for the past couple of weeks. Lifes been a whirlwind of late.

I see some light at the end of the tunnel. In a few more weeks I should have everything (pretty well) put behind me, or at least I hope.
