He is the FR from all the AC ribbons that Dan from Adire measured on a IEC baffle at the same time.

No the top end does not sound hot at all all in the crossover design.

To me I don't see how there is going to be a efficiency of 95db.
The ribbon has a spl of 96db the woofer has a spl 91db. From what I understand for phase and time alinement purposes you would want the ribbon to play down to the woofer at 91db.

yes but isn't baffle step compensation going to eat up some of the woofers efficiency ?

personally I want to see the RA8 version 2 with these woofers-but then what would you do for a tweeter-or would it still work because of the MTM/3 way arrangement that the RA8 has?

No they do not eat up efficency with BSC.
Why because most off the drivers Dan designs have some designed into the driver

Wait till you see the FR of this driver alone ____________________ to 3200.

Primarily interested in kit form, but if it will only be offered as a finished speaker, I'm still curious...

Alone

Here was our set up for the weekend get together.
A pair of 300B Saphires a new secrete Pre amp !!!!
Not my pre amp but some one who has a forum on the AC!!

Over all not to bad a lot liked them even though they only had a few hrs on them but really I just wanted to show the design not the sound.
Most thought after break in they would be great.

But John Chapman really liked them.

YA YA You know Brian.!!
John asked for us not to post any pictures of the new PRE AMP he has coming.
And this is a far shot that will not do any harm.
The final product is waiting for finished parts not the proto type parts and John does not want people to judge the look before they are finished.
I will say very nice clean look coming.

John really did not sit down and do some detailed listening because really at these events that really is impossible.
But I will get these over for a week or so at his place and let him have a chance to listen to them for a good time frame.

The finished product is coming in the by the end of May we will have them ready to go in Kit forum as well as finished.

Sonicap's standard as usual

We will be taking a limited quantity sale price on pre order finished speakers.$2499.99 shipping included regular price will be $2999.99
and those prices include shipping within the US or Canada.

Veneer I am just putting the final pick down but will not be Maple or Cherry .

Will you, perchance, sell just the drivers?  These may be perfect for an OB design I'm working on.

The RA8's with those new drivers would just look downright mean!! Do you think they would provide a significant performance increase ?

Paul at this time the drivers are not for sale sorry

Nick

You never can tell what I will do next and yes it will be a few steps above the RA8 as well as cost as well. These drivers alone a pair of them costs more than all the M-130 drivers in the RA8 cost :o
But the SPL of this coming design will be close to 97db.Along with the final drivers look a little different.Black phase plugs as well as a bucking magnet is added  No cup as we have a issue with getting a cup that will fit and yet not be so large as it dampend the air flow from the back of the driver. And really the bucking magnet does 90% of the work anyway.

They look good, I'd be interested in what the pricing will be for the kit.

We are waiting for the production drivers to arrive.

As for the kit we will have a pre order price up very soon, as we have to get the production pricing in place first.

Over all they will be ready finished as well as kits before the end of June.

Out of curiosity ... can you objectively assess how these sound compared to the Diluceos?  Similar tonal balance but more efficient?  Just wondering if these might be a nice (tube-friendly) upgrade in efficiency without any real sonic trade-offs.

My favorite thing about the Dils is that they never seem to have their own flavor... my amps are always providing the color, so I have yet to figure out what they really sound like; my least favorite thing, however is their 4-ohminess and efficiency (or lack thereof)

The sound difference between the new MTM 95db and the Diluceos. We do not have a pair of Diluceos any longer but I can get a pair of Criterions here and have a listen to them.

What I expect yes more effecent 95MTM will have a lot more low end than them add room gain and yes they have that in spades highs well our tweeter is better for dispersion over the G2.

Mids will be the difference.
John from Bent Audio as well as another person have reviews posted now or coming for the 95MTM. John thinks that they are a home run with all of the listening time he put on them as well as amp configurations he could.

The second person to have the demo pair.Well just asked the day he was to return them. What it would cost to keep them!

Over all I think this will fit for a lot of people with 8-15 watt tubes and yet reach levels of low end extention never before for such a small footprint high effecent speaker.
