ANACONDA!!!!! My daughter and I still scream this at each other in rediculous situations. Horrible plot, absolutely bored actors resulting in boring acting.  The latex giant snake probably showed the most depth of character. Starwars I gave it a close run for its money, but does have one engaging scene(the race).

Am I the only one who liked War of the Worlds?  I thought it was devastating in its portrayal of people fleeing a catastropie (a la New Orleans and the hurricane).  Having said that, I would never buy this movie.

I liked it too.  I saw Katrina first hand...so maybe that connection hit me harder than most.  Also liked the attempt to give it an "everyman" view versus the original version (which I also liked) where the main character was a scientist with inside knowledge.  I thought this made it more "real" if that makes sense.  Just my opinion.

I thought War of the Worlds was a mediocre movie but I did appreciate the bass track which combined with a 4X15" IB sub just about brought my house down  :thumb:

I can't stand tom cruise, but War of the Worlds scared the hell out of me....it just felt a little too 'real' for some reason. Really freaked me out, man.  :o

The lack of realness is why i disliked it so much. There were so many gigantic plot holes and ridiculously convenient goings on that i spent a good portion of the moving cringing or laughing. I'd agree that the bass track is fun, though.

The Boz....  This one was a real winner.  It may be tied with this one.

R.I.P Wade Garrett.  "Road House" is the single greatest bad movie of all time. :thumb:  "You know who that is? Dalton!"

Re War of the Worlds-
I guess I wasn't watching too closely at the end, but weren't they in the NJ/NY area the whole time, and then end up walking into Boston?  I think I missed some travelling there.

There was some driving, but a good portion of the trip was walked.

:duh:    A Movie from the glorious excess of the 1960's, Reflections In A Golden Eye.  This (I am at a loss for words as to what to call it) starred Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, and Robert Forester.  Here is the synopsis of the plot.
Elizabeth Taylor is married to Marlon Brando who is a Officer in the Army.  They both have the hots for a soldier Robert Forester who would rather spend his time breaking into their house and sniffing Elizabeth Taylor's underware drawer.  Forty years later and I still shudder when I think about it!
The amazing thing is that Roger Ebert considers it a good movie!

Interesting plot. I haven't seen the movie, but John Huston is a really good director, and i've enjoyed the Carson McCullers novels i've read. I just may need to check this film out. Ebert knows film well, but some of his recommendations are not very good.

Greatest Golf Movie of All Time   - Caddyshack
Worst Golf Movie of All Time       - Caddyshack II (and perhaps the overall worst movie of all time!)

Somehow it's still fun to watch the second one. I caught it one time on network tv and couldn't pull myself from the tv. Kinda like watching a train wreck in super slow motion.

It's very hard to choose the worst movie of all time but 1 recent movie would have to be Basic Instinct 2. Boring as bat $#!+ is the only way I can describe it. It's up for a Razzie this year along with little man.

My Blue Heaven is pretty horrible. It *should* have been good....Rick Moranis and Steve Martin together. But it sucked. Totally un-funny.

War Of The Worlds was the best "popcorn movie" I ever saw in a theater.  :thumb: The sound alone was freaking pulverizing!  I loved the horn bellows from the tripods.  I was totally taken in by it, so much that I even dragged my movie-phobic mother along to see it again.  It rode right along the edge between trauma and entertainment.  It's like a roller coaster of a movie, it's just a ride, not intellectual science fiction.  I'd buy the DVD but my neighbors are fuddy duddies.  No way to it justice unless you're at "dolby reference level" whatever that is (i.e. fucking loud)  It also helps to not care if Tom Cruise is a nutcase or not.  Of course the ending was dead awful, but AFAIK that's the way the book is...?  The premise is of course absurd; buried ships which work fine after thousands of years, virus defeating the aliens, selective electronics device failure and whatnot - but personally I don't think it matters that much when the portrayal of hell-breakin'-loose is rendered with such relative realism.

As for bad movies, I'd have to add Mike Judge's "Idiocracy" to the shitlist.  Great satircal ideas, good concept, but the movie totally sucked.  There's a plot voiceover through the whole damn thing fer cripes sakes! Augh!  Office Space it is NOT!
