Fuzzy's questions for Mike and friends. (STUCK)
« on: 20 Jan 2006, 07:13 am »
Hello Mike!  I would like to thank everyone for helping me last year by giving their invaluable advice towards my first po "In-Wall surround setup"

I am beginning a new thread because EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED!

First off...I still plan on using ACI speakers (awesome aren't they?)

My major question is about the ELT speakers.  I have enough in my budget to get:

     1.  2 -ACI 8" round chambered in-walls
     2.  1 ELT center channel
     3.  2 ELT Sats
     4.  $600 for a sub
     5.  Panasonic
     6.  $120 for top-notch cable  (Blue jeans cable likely)
     7.  2 vantage point soundyear bookshelf series speaker mounts  (wall
         mounts)

My questions are...if you guys would be willing to help...

    1.  Mike  -  Is that B-stock ELT center channel still up for sale?  I didn't
see anyone grabbing it, and I just received the check from my dad
         to get everything.
    2.  What kind of cables should i get for the sats, sub and center
channel?  (RCA/RCA or plain speaker wire?)
    3.  Are the Vantage speaker mounts suitable for the ELT sats?
    4.  Any sub recommendations?  I read that the ELT sub is suitable...but is there one better?  Would the "force" work more favorably?

Please help out a first-time home-theater-guy.  I have a big fat check and I want to get my dad the best his money can get.

I'd get on the phone and give ACI a call. I've had b-stocks sold out from under me before. i'd also see if maybe they have a b-stock force for the sub. You and your dad should have a lot of fun with this system!

Fuzzy:

I agree with Tayler, give the office a call ASAP. 608 784 4570 I'm not there right now, so I don't know what we have left of ELT stock, etc. The system you propose would do a great job if we still have those pieces available. As far as speaker wires, no RCA connections, regular speaker connections all the way.

I looked up the Vantage mounts on-line and it looked like some would work well. We also have some mounts that may work at:

Let's get you setup!

THANKS GUYS!  I just ordered the setup today.

Thank you all so much for your help and input.  i spoke with a woman on the phone and she got me b-stock for the elt center AND the sats!   She stayed on the phone for like 10 minutes answering my pointless questions.  Wish I caught her name (she ought to have a raise!)

Final setup includes

1.Belden5000UE speaker cables from blue jeans cable
2. 2 ELT LRS speakers and a ELT center
3. 2 "8 coax in-walls
4. Panasonic SA-XR55 receiver
5. One happy Dad and family!

Where should I put the wall mounted ELT LRSs?  I have brackets to angle them down...But placement is huge.  Need help...again.  :?

I'd put them on either side of the TV screen.

I agree with Tayler on this one. It looks like anything else wouldn't be symetrical.
