Lonewolf and I spent a few hours listnening to his modded Teac slotted into my rack, replacing my Aksa 100 N+, driving my Alon IVs. I was very impressed. I had little expectations for this diminutive amp to drive these moderately inefficiant 3 ways. At lower volumes (the way I listen at night when my wife is asleep above the listening room), the Teac had very impressive, well controlled and extended bass. I was very surprised. From the mids up, I heard a resolving presentation with good soundstaging and imaging. It was a bit 'feathery', but no effort was made to optimize via interconnects, etc..., and it was driving a tri-wire harness. At higher volume levels, the Teac clipped. The Alons really need 100-300wpc. This isn't surprising given the speakers and the 16' x23' listening room. But with the proper speakers, listening environment, and sypatico acilliariaries, I can envision a tremendously satisfying system. We threw the diminuitive RWA Teac into the deep end, and she aquitted herself quite admirably.
Plus, Vinnie offers great service.
I'm 4 of those jobs, Vin! Glad to help.
