RM30C (center channel) and CDWG?
« on: 9 Dec 2005, 04:11 pm »
Would the RM30C, used as a center channel for a HT, benefit from the CDWG?  I take it that you'd have to rotate the FST, correct?  If so, how much side-to-side (parallel to the long axis of the speaker) dispersion for the tweeter would you lose?  Would the benefits of CD make up for this loss?

Why not try it and see?  You can send the wave guide back if you don't like the effect.

I'm thinking of doing just that (trying and seeing).  I plan on ordering the CDWG for my RM40s, but John tells me the CDWG isn't quite ready for the RM30s.  So, maybe I'll order the RM40 CDWG, install it, see what the effects are, then order the CDWG for the RM30C.

I too have been really curious is the CD would "work" with a center channel oriented horizontally...

Rob, when the CDWG is ready for the RM30s, I plan on purchasing one and trying it out.  I'll report back.  (I also plan on added BH5 and wool to my RM30C, but I'll try to do these projects prior to installing the CDWG so that only the CDWG will be examined in my tests.)

I have a vertical RM-30 center with RM-30's on the side for the front three and will be adding the CDWG most likely after CES and report back.

I think the CDWG will be one of the most needed upgrades from what I am hearing from reliable sources....
