stock or upgrade power cords on nu force ref 9
« on: 23 Nov 2005, 07:51 pm »
was checking to see if any one has upgraded there stock a/c cords, is it necessary, like all other audio products a/c cords can get really expensive, some cost more than the amp, i am going to use a bpt 2 for a/c noise, i am waiting for my ref 9 to arrive, also i have been reading a lot on these amps and have noticed long interconnects and real short speaker wire, is that a better way to go?

If you have true balance system, mounting/placing the amp behind the speaker will be better if you use long XLR and short speaker wire.
With regards to power cord, we strongly recommend you first try the default Ref 9 power cord.
Brickwall audiophile grade AC powerstrip (about $250) is a good one to get to turn on/off the amps and preamp at the same time and still provide good shielding.

Be aware that these amps will reveal any weaknesses in your system.

That being said, you don't need to spend an arm and a leg to get great sound out of them.  I have tried quite a few cords, and have settled on a rather middle of the road power cord ($240 for a 6 footer).

hello and happy thanksgiving to you and yours, if you mean using balanced interconnects i will be, my other source equipment is not equipped with balanced connections, jason it that what you mean by a balanced system, btw it seams as though fedx has lost my ref 9s they were to be delivered yesterday, going to track a package fedx the last input by them is leaving memphis on monday, its par for the course for us in the new orleans area, it seems that things just dont want to go right, its going to be a great day when i can sit in the sweet spot and relax to some good old rock and roll, mike
