Cornet classic cap upgrade question

Is there a problem with using a .47 (C-AUD47-450) auricap in C5 rather then the .1 recommended in the manual?

You can do the substitution, but it extends low frequency response a little down too far, I think.  What happens, is that you end up amplifying all of the turntable rumble, tonearm resonances, warps, and other subsonic information.  I set the 0.1uF value to pass as much bass information with minimal phase shift, but to roll off the subsonic noise.

jh :)

Reason I asked is I found a couple of these values from an old cd player tweaking project.

You're completely right. I stuck em in last night and immediately had to adjust my subwoofer gain and roll back the xover to a lower point. Even with doing that it still sounds maybe a touch too dark and consequently vocals / midrange feel a bit recessed.
