I've got some MMK polyester film caps with the following labelling:-

  * front: 9901, MMK, 100 -

  * top: 470 nK

What's with the "nK" here? How does this relate to the more familiar uF?

Its a 470 nanofarad  ( 470nf = 0.47uf ) capacitor 100volts DC

1,000 picofarads =  1 nanofarad    = 1 nf
1,000 nanofarads = 1 microfarads = 1 uf
1,000 microfarads =1 millifarad     = 1 mf
1,000 millifards    = 1 farad           = 1 f
