I am looking for a small pair of self powered speakers to mate with my computer. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Specifically has anyone heard the FPSs and care to comment on them?

What's your budget?

For $179 I don't think you can beat the Swans M-200.

Ideally $125. And I wanted to keep them fairly small.

Where can one get the M-200s and what do you think about the Swans S200A?

The best set of computer speakers I've heard are Monsoon MM 1000's. Just sold mine due to the fact I use headphones now but they sound great. You even get good imaging with your monitor in the middle. You can only get them used on Ebay but they still go for about 150-175 a set.  They're worth it though, I could listen to music and not feel like the sound was holding back the enjoyment like most computer speakers I've heard.

I am a HUGE fan of the Midiland S2 with the included sub and controller.

A couple years ago I did a comparative against everything I could find under the $500 price point (Monsoon, Aletc, Klipch and the like) and this system was far far better in terms of real bass balance, excellent refined highs and midrange voicing by a long shot .:!: .

I'm not sure if it is still available anymore on the new market, but if you can still find this system I'd recommend over anything else that's available under the $700 price point circa 2006 (it's that damn good IMHO!).

I bought a pair of monsoons from a guy at diyaudio.  I have them hooked up to a rio karma and listen to it at work.

Sounds pretty good for what they are, but I have not heard the Swans to compare them.  They beat the hell out of the altec's I used to use.

I do have two subs instead of one, and that does make them sound better.

I have heard from multiple sources that the Monsoons are very good. But they are also very difficult to find!
