Nice job, Willie! It still has that "Lionel" look but I like the spiffy two-tone. If it sounds anything like the first locomotive, I'd buy both and bridge them for my maggies. 8)

Best of luck with your sale.

I'm a sucker for antiques and tubes (when I'm not playing with t-amps) and I was fortunate enough to get Willie's Wurlitzer creation.  It's smoooooth and has enough power for my medium-sized room to properly run the Horn Shoppe Horns or PSTL's.  Even with just so-so tubes, it's excellent and has plenty of bass.

Now it's time to save for a flock of 45's.  It's nice to own such a unique product from one of the AC boys.  Thanks Willie...

Congats Ohenry!

One thing Willie has down pat is the sound of the PP 45. The one he drags around to our different events is using the silver output tannies (I think). After listening to Willies, I've gathered the parts to build one for myself. Now I just need to find some time.

I think Willie rates his PP 45 at about 4 watts of total tube bliss

Congratulations Oh Henry! We're glad to see that Willie's talents are getting a wider following. We've been blessed with auditioning his work quite often now and he always blows us away. Enjoy!

Looks like this Willie character has some impeccable taste. That amp is some serious eye candy.  Would love to see some schematics if anyone is interested in sharing?     4 watts is probably not enough for my applications but 8-15 might work.

Josh - you could push-pull some 2a3's for 8-10 watts.

Willie does some amazing work 8)

Willie's 45 revisited

Just a note to brag on Willie's amp again.  With the TJ's and some hours on the amp, it's just keeps on pleasing.  The new tubes seem to extend the highs and make the bass more defined, and boy are they cool looking.  The presentation is so clean and smooth.  The 45 tubes in pp seem to make it both polite and punchy.  For the first time in memory I'm not walking away after a listening session thinking that it's very good, but I wish...  This thing is providing audio contentment. 8)

Hi Ohenry,

Thats the same thing we all say after listening to Willies gear.

Hey Willie (or anybody else interested), in my continuing adventures in junkin', I ran a cross a mint Hammond M-3 (not the B-3) organ. There is one minor problem with it, the starter gear doesn't engage 100% of the time. It does engage though. Once started, the drive takes over the tremelo works just fine. The ivories and stops are all perfect (as far as I could tell). This is sitting in a antique shop up in Bowling Green Missouri.

If you know anybody looking for an extremely cool sounding organ for a band, this thing could be had cheap. The sticker was $395 but its been there a long while with no takers. Guessing, a person could pick it up for around 3 bills.

Oh, and if you really wanted it, they also have this monsterous Allen church organ complete with three levels of keyboards. Both speaker cabinets come with it and still have the four 12" drivers (Alnico magnets) that rotate. The pair of 15" bass drivers are still in the cabinets too. I actually thought about it for a few minutes but the last thing I need is another speaker project. Then again, you guys that are thinking about the single driver thing with active subs, heres your chance and some vintage subs. This one could be had cheap too.

Sorry about the slight thread-jack :D

....and now back to our regularly scheduled program....

Glad to hear you're having some fun with that amp. Next you gotta try some WE-417's or even Roll some rectifier tubes. I'm so happy you like the amp, its inspired me to do another!

    Have fun!

Willie, you should make another, but no better than mine!!!    Just kidding, it's sonics and looks suit me well.

I have been looking for those 417's and found a few nice pairs on epay, but those damn snipers...

I saw the new Willie 845 amp thread and that reminded me to follow up on my amp and give Willie another "thank you".

I'm still loving the 45PP Willie sold me last year.  In short, those 45 tubes in a PP topology are quite intriguing.  Imagine an amp with the 45 velvet smoothness, tone and finesse, along with bass and punch; that's what I have. And he has been gracious enough to give me an idea of some tweaks to make it a little better (it's already very satisfying).  I've played with some nice NOS PIO signal caps and finally got some WE417A's that have brought things along.  Now for those Electraprint IT's.

I have found Willie's amp an affordable way for me to get into some "real" tube equipment that happens to reside in a wonderfully unique and artful case.  And his guidance for tweaks will keep my interest for a very long time.

I'm one of those folks that become attached to special inanimate objects and a there a handfull of things that I'll never sell.  This amp is in that category.

Not that I'm aware of, I saw it here, read the accounts of those GASer guys, was struck by the visuals, and took a little chance when he ebay-ed it.

He recently had another up for sale, but I don't know how that one ended...

Hiya Melby,

Willie doesn't have a website, he just hangs out with us GAS folk. Tell you what, since you are so close to St Louis, you ought to come down (over or up) to one of our next GAS gatherings. That way you could hear one of Willies amps first hand.

I (myself) am really curious to hear his new 845 creation in front of my Lowthers.
