Finally met Klaus in person.  What a great guy, as you all know.  His speakers that are hidden behind pictures hanging on the wall are just unreal.  Fantastic sound.  However, the Loreleis have to be heard to be believed.  Klaus played a Miles Davis Lp that was just hypnotic and some other stuff (not my kind of music, actually) that filled up the room with beautiful sound.  How those speakers generate that smooth midrange sound with room shaking bass is beyond me.  Beautiful.  We listened to a little classical, Tchaikovsky's Capricio Italien, on an old RCA Lp that was wonderful, but was accompanied by some thundering Chinese drums from the adjoining room.  For the Davis, Klaus went next door and asked for ten or fifteen minutes of silence from that department and they obliged.  How can anyone tell Klaus no?  If anyone deserves success in the highly competitive world of hi-fi, it is certainly Klaus.  Now the hard part for him.  He has to drive back to Indianapolis and has to go through Kansas again.

It was my first time meeting Klaus. Great guy!! He loves his craft.
The Loreleis are amazing! And for $2700 they are a steal. I couldn't believe the bass that was coming out of this 2 way?? Untill he handed me the crossover!! These speakers were smooth, open and just great sounding. Kudos to Klaus. If you are looking for speakers and your price range is around $3k to $4k give these speakers a listen.. They are that good.

It's great to hear further comments like this that verify what others, myself included, have been saying about these speakers.  Especially good from people hearing them for the first time who have no "investment" in puffing up what they've heard because they are owners and need to convince themselves they made the right call.

Isn't that crossover just silly?  It makes other ones look like toys by comparison.  Both assessments above echo my opinion of the sound and quality of the sound.  Klaus, too, is a fantastic guy to deal with and while I haven't met him in person I do look forward to the time when I can finally get to one of these and do so.

Crossover

Klaus handed me the crossover while saying, "It takes two hands."  It was big and heavy, but not being a techie, I have no idea of differences in crossovers, so it was kind of lost on me.  Not in the market for new speakers, but was curious about the Loreleis.  If I was looking for speakers, well, it'd be a no brainer.  I do have a pair of Klaus's mono extremes.  Got them about two years ago and have never looked back.  He was running the speakers with regular monos, a gorgeous pair finished in silver, maybe platinum.  He used what looked like a top of the line VPI turntable.  Wish I had one like it - not to mention that Symphonic Line CD player.  However, Klaus definitely prefers vinyl.

Klaus was using a new VPI Super Scoutmaster turntable with one of the top Van den Hul cartridges.   He got it just a couple of weeks ago and I'm sure he was still breaking it in.

I got my Loreleis from Klaus that were used in the 6-Moons review just
about two years ago.  When I first got the Loreleis I called Klaus and complained about the bass.  I had been using the Nightingales and Tyler monitors.  I'm now used to the bass and these speakers are staying.

It is hard to go wrong with Klaus and again his service is second to none.

For me, it's nice to hear that Klaus was using vinyl at times to demo his components. (For anyone who was there, was Klaus using a reg. Tempest, the Extreme Tempest, or something else as his pre?) I personally find that my vinyl rig has a wonderful synergy with the Odyssey gear I own. Also, thanks for the initial impressions from those fortunate enough to attend the RMAF and stop in at the Odyssey room this year. I hope there's more to read in the near future.

I asked Klaus about the preamp and he showed me a Symphonic Line unit that he said incorpoated what he said would be identical circuitry as the Tempest.  It was this he was using as a preamp.  Not sure exactly what this unit was.  The preamp part took up about half the chassis.  I was surprised not seeing an actual Tempest, but he's the boss.  He had the VPI, a pair of mono blocks, a pair of Loreleis, the Symphonic Line CD player, and the picture speakers on the long wall of the room - and this other piece of Symphonic Line equipment.  A few CDS, and a stack of records.  I visited on Sunday morning when most of the exhibits weren't too busy. Can't comment on attendance during peak hours, say Sat. and Sun. afternoons.

if i am not mistaken the Tempest is based on the Symphonic Line RG 2 MK 3 preamplifier.Klaus likes to use Symphonic Line Gear as demo gear as well because after all he is the exclusive united states dealer for this ultra high end gear.

The Stratos Monos were regulars, not extremes (someone asked Klaus while I was in the room).  Don't forget that the on-wall speakers were driven by a Cyclops.

I was impressed with Klaus and his equipment (did I mention that he grabbed my chair and pulled it a foot back to a better postion while I was still sitting in it :) ).

It would be nice if his website was updated to refer people to.  (I know, not a new comment around here.)  For example, I know a friend will want to know more about the on-walls when I tell him about them, but I don't think there is any way to get info other than calling Klaus.
