"Sonic Impact"...still the best bang for the $?

It's been some time since the release of the Sonic Impact chip amp and it was obviously a giant step forward in performance/dollar and a tweeker's delight. Are there any new creations out there that can surpass the SI near it's price?

Sounds like the Teac A-700LP holds that value prop up, with 30wpc for $99.

I am liking the Teac, but lately have been toying with a JVC all in one, that is doing it for me, with the DIY speakers in place.

I heard NeedleDoctor sold out, and the supply has dried up.

A while back Sonic Impact gave a news blurb that they were testing 30 wpc and 50 wpc tripath amps. 6moons had test units but nothing has ever been said since. I think all the new developments and modded equipment may have put them off. They projected the 50 wpc price at $299.00 which is laughable.

shit there's a lot of digital devices out there, and mang, if sonic impact made $300 dollar amplifiers people would get all pissed and not buy them. Something that i'm waiting for is AV123's x-empower, which is suppose to be a digital amp that doesn't use tripath. I wonder wtf it is, icepower!??!?? anyway, it's suppose to be very reasonable as well. Gotta pick one up when they come out.

We're going in the right direction, here. I'm talking low-buck, high performance, not esoteric mods or redesigns. I'm not limiting this to just T-amps either. Is there perhaps a "sleeping giant" of a device hiding away in some unsuspecting piece of gear...a lemon that turned out too good? Do you think that HK or NAD purposely designed their cheapest gear as their best sounding? The SI has it's sonic limitations, but for the bucks, it has areas of resolution that are hard to beat...cheap too. Maybe we'll find one of those hideous Flash Gordon boomboxs, hooked up to our speakers, that will having us rushing to sell our white elephants before the market drops out on them. We can dream, can't we?

I would tend to veer away from dakmart, as there was a lot of negative situations that happened between them and certain members of the klipsch forums. Such events were: being double charged, not having items in stock (when they say they're in stock) and shitty customer service. Good service before they get your money, but complete shit after they take your money. Only get it from there if you're desperate.
