my wife would like that very much! If your proposed sub has more output than the new upcoming rocket UFW-10 and priced agressively put me down for 2 of them- seriously.

audionut101: Yes... we are working on a 12" cube type of sub that would use an Adire XBL driver and a pair of passive radiators. I don't know anything about the UHF-10 so I couldn't give you any feedback in terms of comparisons. I kind of doubt that they are going to come anywhere near our output capability though.
Time will tell.

Kevin, that's awesome! What kind of Vd are you looking at with that driver and 2 (!) PR's?

Tyson: Well... we are not that far along that I have specific parameters to quote. The goal is to get the Tumult based units into production and shipping and then we are going to work on the smaller 12" sub. The Tumult units are only an 18" cube so they are by no means large and many will find they fit their living conditions.
We have kicked around using a modified Brahma 10" or 12" driver. The problem we have is finding a couple PRs that has 1.5-2x the Vd of the driver. The standard 10" Brahma has 330 cm^3 and the 12" has 1180 cm^3 so you have to have a couple PRs that can really get up and move. Dan has a couple ideas and once we have all the design details done I'll build a proto and we will go from there. I don't expect to have a production unit available until later this summer.

what about using 3 PR's? That should give you the dispacement needed w/out having to use "uber" pr's. Of course, you won't have room for an amp, but with a driver like that, you probably want an external amp anyway.

Tyson,
We could have a downfiring driver, three PRs & the amp. It would get croweded in the box and the price goes higher the more active parts you use.
We will see..... I'm just concerned with the results and the cost. The goal would be for something that would sell for about $1000 with tons of output in a compact package. I think high quality affordable bass in small packages is the hot ticket. How we get there is up to Dan.

I think downward firing would be the way to go along with 3 PRs. Keeping the amp internal would be best for WAF. If you get near or break the $1K mark, then I think a lot of your market will be lost. I know stryke audio makes a 16" cube with the av12 and 2 PR and 380W amp for way less than $1K. 12" vs 16" is HUGE though from my wifes perspective. What does people think about these specs-

End of summer before the 12"??? Can I at least be a paid beta tester to get these things any sooner??

It would be very irresponsible for me to make a commitment on price and delivery date for a product that is vaporware at the moment. For the time-frame your looking at I'd look elsewhere.
In terms of the price, I'd like to hit the 1K mark and offer something that is better than anything else in terms of size and output at that price point. If we cannot do it, then we will scrap the project. I don't have any plans on investing my money into something that doesn't bring a return on investment.
