Cheap Speaker Stands

In anticipation of my soon to be here Omega Aperiodic 8s, I set out looking for the 12" standa that Louis recommends. The local stereo shops were no help......cheaply made flimsy wooden crap at exorbitant prices. I went to Lowes hardware and found some cast concrete 12'X12' base tapering to 9"X9" platform, 8" tall, 49lbs., $3.02 ea. They had these wall building concrete pieces that were 4" tall with a 1/4' lip(the lip will give the upward tilt Louis recommends)  and 9" wide, 23lb., $1.49 ea. I set the wall building piece atop the tapered blocks and encased in some black cloth salvaged from the dumpster after Magnolia Hifi left town. Voila, rock solid(!) 72lb speaker stands, total price with tax $9.79. Lowes had some nice precast concrete pillars in their gardening department, but they were all too tall.

pictures?   :D

Sounds like a fun project.  I plan to build some 4-pillar stands out of Veranda post sleeves and MDF perhaps.  Of course this will probably end being another back burner project slated for some time when I find my clone to do the work for me.. Click image for Veranda site...

Sorry, no pics. It might be awhile before I can get a friend over here with a digital camera to post. Stands are quite compact. They are somewhat of a pain to move though due to the weight. Talk about 'rock solid' though!

I've made some stands out of 1/2" MDF.   The bases were then filled with sand.

I am new at this and I'd ask someone to help me with advice. I applied as recruiter manager at JobQueen, they promise to pay $87,000.00/year. I would like to know if they are for real and if they are how can I get quality sales reps in China. I didn't list the domain because promoting something is forbiden in most forums. So if you want to help me out please contact me direct at my email:
