There has been some delays in getting the woofers built as per the requirements and a delay due to flooding. Still a woofer that meets my approval could be ready any day now.

Once approved it will take about 6 to 8 weeks to get the first shipment in and we'll be rolling. Kits will be made available right away.

Fully assembled units will follow but may not be ready until the first part of next year. Having them ready in time for CES would be great.

What is the latest word? I am interested in this product with the cabinet build from the vendor implied.

LS9 Kit and cabinets?
Hi Danny,
Will the LS9 kit be available with cabinets?  When I build speaker cabinets from scratch they usually look like the Leaning Tower of Pizza.    :(

Hope that RMAF went well!

The LS6 & LS9 will be available 'Turn-Key/Ready To Play' from a company that makes very good speaker cabinets from what I recall.  I don't think there has been an official annoucement of this yet.

There is a thread at the AV123 website about the LS6 and LS9 speakers.   I would still be interested in a kit with cabinets, instead of a fully built speaker.

Is the kit likely to be available before or after Xmas?  Are you optimistic about showing them at CES?

How good a fit is this class of technology for rock music (vs. say your open baffle product)?  Is a sub recommended?

If all goes well then yes. The kit will be available.

Not really, and not really worried about it either. I have other clients to tend to right now and need to get their products ready for CES.

Nothing breezes through high SPL's like the line source designs.

It depends on how much really low end output you want. These should hit -3db points in the mid 20's.

Just as an update, Dan Wiggins has two versions of the new woofer right now that he is going over. We are trying to figure out why the BL factor on the XBL^ design is low. If he comes up with a solution then this can move forward pretty quickly.

For the manufacturer to figure out how to get the XBL^ design to work properly has been a tremendous delay.

Sure enough!  I can attest to that.  :thumb: :drums:

(Speaking of my Alpha LS arrays) if you got the watts they'll play astonishingly loud (and clean).  You don't actually need too many watts to go loud, but the bass keeps up w/ the increasing volumes better w/ more watts.

I know its hard to be patient, but I'm sure Danny's new line arrays will sound great!

Seems great...

FYI...I was thinking less about SPL and more about a pleasing sound on rock recordings which aren't always the highest quality.  I tend to like a good bass and midrange with rock and less forward treble...more lead guitar and bass rythmn vs cymbal rythmn.

I'm not sure if this makes sense but some speakers are awesome with high grade acoustic demo tracks with tons of details and image but put in a classic electric guitar rock lp of lower grade and the heavy lead guitar, bass guitar rhythmn and big pounding drums get lost to treble details and forward cymbal rhthmn.

...not sure if this makes any sense but in general some speaker technologies/designs seem better designed for different types of recordings.

I can't speak for other designs, but any line source offered from GR Research will play anything.

The Alpha LS model made Metallica and AC/DC sound as real as it gets. Throw in a bunch of crowd noise and you'd think you were there.

Hi Danny,

Can you post the frequency response of your custom neo8's compared to that of the original?  Thanks

It started with my modifications to a standard Neo 8. These measurements were taken on a small baffle with an open back.

Then I had Igor replicate what I did. Here are his 30 degrees off axis responses. The Black line is a standard Neo 8 and the Red and Blue line are with the mods.

Then they built out some samples and sent them to me. Here is one of the samples compared to the regular Neo 8.

These measurements were taken on a small baffle with the back waves dampened. They were not flush mounted either so you have to take their accuracy with a grain of salt. It was just for comparisons sake.

I couldn't find any properly taken measurements that I could publish as accurate.
