HDTV viewing distance.

I am planning on buying a HDTV next year and have been doing some research. One of the things I thought to check out was viewing distance to get an idea of what size TV I should buy. The distance right now from my existing tv is 11ft. It turns out I should have my couch about 2-3ft closer for a 62" screen when viewing HDTV fully resolved, and the recommended THX viewing distance is 6.9ft, or I leave my couch where it is and get a 100" screen! Since I will be viewing a combination of analogue, DVD, and HDTV sources I will either be moving my couch a lot or settling on a compromise position. So I'm wondering, how many of you are viewing your HDTV from the recommended distance?
Here's a link to a viewing distance calculator. http://www.dreamhometheaters.com/viewing_distance_calculator.html

That sounds about right- and also depends on your viewing preference (esp wrt watching Cable/SD). With HD you can go as near as 5-6 ft from  your 60-64" HD set. For piss poor standard definition you have to step back to 8-10 ft depending on your viewing preference! I think 60"+ will be one for you to begin..(then it will shrink and you will want a bigger set..hehe)

If it was just HD or DVD viewing yeah 100" would do well - go FP then :)
