Doug, can you give us a couple comments on the sound character of mirror dac.  I have not heard one, or any non-os dac for that matter,  but the descriptive comments which seem to consistently appear are very smooth (perhaps  overly so) and natural, with limited extension and dynamics.  Would you say this roughly applies for this non-os dac?

Good suggestion. I have heard the Audio Mirror preamp but not the Audio Mirror amps. Vlad demoed one of his preamps at a Hous Audio Society meeting and two members ordered them the next week. One other member who has a magabuck system told me he borrowed an Audio Mirror pre and preferred it to the $13K solid state pre that's now in his system. So the amps must be ok too. If Vlad is at the HAS meeting Saturday I'll ask him about it.

 I am using the Audio Mirror 40wt monos on my xt-6's.An excellent match.My speakers have the conjugate circuit to flatten the impedance.More SET friendly that way.

After experimenting with several amps ranging from a pair of 3.5 watt Paramours to a 150 watt DK Design Group hybrid I have decided the XT8 really does need a big amp, and I have found the perfect match. It's an amp that's built in Hong Kong and sold on Ebay: The Yarland FV-34 CIII.

Actually I called Vlad this weekend and ordered a pair of his 40 watt 6C33C monoblocks which will be completed next week. But in the meantime it's amazing how well the little 10 watt EL84 amp will drive them. I picked it up new on Ebay with a winning bid of $150 plus $90 for air freight one-week delivery.

Here's a link to the seller's online store. The components are listed without reference to their "brand names". This seller also offers some more powerful amps including EL34's, 300B's, and even 845's, but I would hesitate to buy anything I couldn't afford to throw away if it went bad, because there's no warranty and no economical way to return it for service. I picked up the little EL84 amp as a toy because the starting price was $150 and I was the only bidder.
