front ported AV-3's??
« on: 4 Jul 2005, 05:21 am »
I am curious if anyone has built AV-3's with a modified cabinet with a front port?  My Home Theater will have the speakers placed in an enclosure that may not allow much space between the wall and the back of the speakers.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have had many customers build it front ported.

All you have to do is flip flop the design. Think of it as moving the binding post cup to the front and moving the drivers to the back and spinning it around. You have to leave out the top (short) brace that starts the T-line.

Now you have the opening for the T-line at the front.

I assume that if i good with the AV-3S, I will not need to worry about any porting or distance from the back wall.  Is this correct?

This is correct, but you will of coarse give up some low bass extension.
