While I wholeheatedly concur with the review, I now use a pair of SofA, driving one channel of each, effectively turning the amps into a pair of monoblocks.  The improvement is substantial.  My alltime favorite amp.
BTW 150W/ch are available in this mode.

Yup, they are very nice indeed. Here is a picture of the monos. I use the monos on the RM30's and a SOA on a pair of 626's.....

Hi Florian,

You might also try the Son on the RM30s and the Blocs on the 626Rs.

The 626R is actually harder to drive to equal SPL's

My Son doesn't work nearly as hard with the RM30s as it did with the 626Rs.

And as Brian says the Son will drive the RM40s with ease.

We had three Sons driving the RM40s (one chanel each) at CES and they could play exceptionally High SPLs without any hint of distortion.

I'm not getting one until they come up with a replacement faceplate that looks less like a trekkie's bad imitation of a federation-approved brick. I'm sure it's a nice amp, but that's the tackiest logo I have ever seen. An amp should sit proudly between the speakers, getting air flow and looking lean and mean. That thing looks like it needs to be locked in a closet.

There, I said it, I feel much better now.

I think thats a tad harsh.   James B. will not change the logo, and it looks pretty cool in real life actually.

PS: I did play some more with the 626, and like the monos better :-) I can get them into clipping on the RM30 tough when i really jam.

Sensible Sound just had a great review of the SON OF...amp. I can't find it online to get a hyperlink for the review but needless to say they really like Jim's products.

Hi Scott,

The amp can be ordered with a plain Blue or Black FacePlate, without the Logo.

Then it looks just like a regular "non-federation" brick
