I have a pair of OB Subs and I have them connected to a Hi-Pass filter between my pre-amp and amp and all the connections are RCA.  I am planning on upgrading  to Balanced inputs between my pre-amp and amp but I don't have an XLR input on my rythmik plate amp.  How do I solve this problem.  I don't have a specific subwoofer connection on my preamp?  Can I make a Hi-Pass filter with an RCA output to the  sub plate amplifier.  I honestly wish the plate amplifier had an XLR input.

What preamp is it? I have a Kara and run balanced out to my main speakers, and the rest of the array runs se to a block, the preamp does both xlr and se simultaneously. Depending on how far the run is to the subs, you probably won't hear a major difference between se and balanced xlr. You could probably do a miniDSP with XLR to SE to the subs which would also take care of your hpf between... I really don't know, just bumping the thread for someone smarter to chime in.

For XLR output connectors do not tie pin 3 and 1 together.  It will short the output stage.

You can wire XLR pin 1 to RCA ground, pin 2 to RCA center pin and leave XLR pin 3 open.  That will convert the balanced output to single ended input.

I have 10ft cables made with Neutrik connectors and Canare cable for that style of output for my system.
