Speaker stand material for SAM
« on: 20 Jun 2026, 08:33 am »
Hi there, I'm thinking to source a pair of stand for my on-the-way SAM.
Is the speaker design more suitable with wooden or steel frame?  :)

Your advice is welcome!

I don’t think the speaker will care what the material of the stand is as long as the stand is rigid and at the correct height.

I'm in agreement with seikosha. However, what one might experiment with is a form of decoupling between the stand's top plate and speaker bottom. This especially if the stand is spiked to the floor. I've successfully used IsoAcoustics Mini Pucks for years under standmounts. Many other options here as well including Herbie's. Enjoy your new speakers.

Hi Mick Wolfe, my place is wooden floor and I plan to get one with spike and a disc/cone that protects the floor.
Will have a look at IsoAcoustics. Thanks for your advice :)

You're welcome  :thumb: If it's a suspended wood floor, you definitely want to bring a form of decoupling into play. If it's wood over concrete, decoupling should still be considered.

Hi Mick Wolfe, thanks again for your generous advice.  :D The wooden floor is raised on stump. It's pretty much like floating.
There's a young neighbor nearby with party music sometimes over the weekend, floor's shaking when it's party time.
I listen to the music only around the midnight or otherwise early morning for the quietest moment. I hope it's enough for the decoupling  :green:
The speaker's coming this Friday and I haven't had time to look for a pair of speaker stand.
The SAM area's about 11in x 14in. I'm struggled where I can find a build that fits it.
Will post a picture after it arrives. May listen to it by putting it on a chair.
