Streamers make a difference but not remotely as much as a high quality switch. I highly recommend the Gustard N18 pro uplinked to another switch via SFP. I have a Ubiquiti Pro Max as my main switch connected to the Gustard by fiber which electrically isolates it. Huge improvement.

Tell us more. What are you streaming? Hi-res downloads? Tidal? Qobuz? Video?
How far away is the Gustard N18 and streamer from the modem? Fiber is great for long runs so probably sounds better than a long RJ45 cable.
What brand is the streamer that a $477 Gustard N18 and a $295 Ubiquiti Pro Max makes a huge improvement?

Both hi res files and Tidal from a Roon server. Hi Res files are on a TrueNas server. Verizon FIOS straight into a PF Sense firewall I built. The firewall has a dedicated vlan for music and the Ubiquiti switches do the VLAN tagging. Distance doesn’t matter as the Roon server and endpoint is on the Gustard in my main audio rack. The endpoint on this setup is currently a Eversolo DMP A8.

I heard a very large improvement to the musical quality in my room when I added a dedicated streamer. I mean coming from a MacMini running Roon. So I discovered about expensive switches therefore I figured it might be better if I got rid of running any switch in the stream path. My latest plan are to get Network Acoustics Origin power supply for my router then also add Network Acoustics Muon2 ethernet filter.

Streaming is my next project tackle.  After building some oticas and going all out on the crossovers, I just hit about 300+ hours and have realized the burn in.  I always thought that stuff was crap.  There is no doubt that things have changed.  Tracks I am intimately familiar with have gone from nasal to good.  Or flat to dynamic.  Cant wait to imagine a new streamer and how it can change things more.  My next project is waiting deep in this thread as it matures.
