I am an infrequent poster but from what I recall one or more accounts were hacked related to items for sale so the administration shut it down. As to who was/is the moderator I don't know...

Maxcaster is the moderator. That would explain why a John Hirsh on here claimed i sold an item to him. I didn't and PayPal says I owe him $650.00.

Re: Why is The Trading Post closed?
Hi guys,
MaxCast informed some weeks a go what happened.
I will translate for those who didn't get it:
The Trading Post will never be reopened.
Hi Guys !!
This is a heart felt threat for sure.  Reading it and seeing many names from long ago I had to stop and say hello.
Regarding the Trading Post.  We did have one account get hacked and it caused some problems.  Don't know when it will be reopened.

It's been awhile since I used these so all this too
 :fishing: :guitar: :drums:  :banana piano:

We had to suspend the Trading Post due to an account being compromised.
Not sure how long it will last at this time.

Any ideas on an external private site to regulate our buy, sell, or trade?

Just list it elsewhere. The Adcom i allegedly sold to John Hirsh is listed on Audiomart. One time fee to list it but no percentage of the sale. They also list it on their sister site AudioCanuck.

qdrone, There are no fees on US Audio Mart.

Highly recommended site. I have used it with great success. It has a wide audience and a rating system.

I was referring to possibly using a private free website forum where only AC members can be allowed to join who have a minimum amount of posts. That way, it's the people we know from AC and not strangers.

unfortunately it been explained several times over and it's just never coming back. I miss it too..but like others I have had great success with US Audiomart and Audiogon over the years. You could advise in a product thread that you have a listing for something you are selling in that line.Maybe offer a discount to AC members that buy it.

The Steve Hoffman forums have a section for buying and selling gear.  I use that and US Audiomart as well as Audiogon.

As someone who's currently looking for some used stuff, I do miss all the classified options that were available ten years ago. FB Marketplace is an absolutely horrific format unless one keeps changing the search radius. US Audio Mart is decent but I remember peak Audiogon having more traffic.

US/CA Audiomart is solid.
