Onix ERT Questions

Hi Danny,

I picked up some old Onix ERT tweeters to pair with my upgraded Strata Mini’s. They were super cheap but allegedly worked.

I received them and the volume knob (passive volume control) was supposed to only have four settings. Immediately I noticed the knob just spins.

I hooked up anyways and of course they didn’t work. I popped open the tweeter and see the obvious issue as expected. See pic.

I think I may just upgrade these as the design seems simple. I would bypass the broken knob/resistor bundle but don’t know the values.

Did you help design these per chance? Any idea the resistor values?  (I can call if needed)

Thanks,Onix ERT
Robert

I think I tried a pair of these a long time ago. I think I remember care is needed with implementation because they might cause comb filtering effects with the speaker tweeter response. I don’t remember any details, so I might be talking nonsense…good luck!

You are correct.

The best way to implement them is to face them towards the front of the room and not in the same direction that the speakers are facing.

Danny,

Are these something you'd be willing to look at for an upgrade?  I know it's not a typical speaker so i wasn't sure.

Thanks,
Robert

Hey Danny and GR Team!  I did send you one of these a few weeks ago for a possible upgrade.  I didn't know if I was supposed to call in or what turnaround time is on something like that.  There's no hurry on my end but I didn't want to be the hold up if I was supposed to do something else.

Thanks!
Robert
