I have a pair of Emerald Physics CS2 and Magnepan 1.6QR, so naturally the thought has occurred to combine the woofers of CS2 with the treble panel of the 1.6QRs. Has anyone tried this? Both speakers are readily available on the used market at reasonable prices, so one would assume it's been tried before. Looking for any words of wisdom before proceeding.

Why not.  All you need is a decent active crossover, which I presume you already have with the CS2.  If it were me, the largest issue would be that both speakers are rather wide, so placing both of them together in a given room would be challenging, unless "acceptance factor" is non-issue
