Yes it's a fine line to move from audiophile prodigy to certified audiophile. Going down the Rabbit Hole for me began when I purchased a used power amp for my Paradigm Studio 100 v2. I had tried a few receivers I had on hand to get them to sound decent but they still sounded like @$$. With the power amp my jaw hit the floor! I finally had bass and it hit hard.
Before this, I never would have spent big bucks on equipment. This however was the start of much more spending to come and years of critical listening to achieve a kick ass system that I would make me proud. I haven't had the need to upgrade for over ten years.
