Manic Moose Reinstall on BDP3
« on: 17 Apr 2026, 12:54 pm »
I have about 2.5TB of music on the SSD in my BDP3 and it fails (hangs) when updating the library. This happened once before and was remedied remotely by Chris after I put the player in service mode. Would a software reinstall resolve this? Is there any reason I can't reinstall the software myself? I've found these instructions https://support.bryston.com/downloads/BDP/, but it isn't clear if they apply to the BDP3. I'm also unclear whether the issue is with MM or with MPD.

I'm comfortable with tech and don't mine resolving this DIY, but I don't want to brick this great player. Can you offer any guidance, or should I just reach out to Chris at Bryston?

Just curious if you're using a Scratch Drive.

Just to followup, Adam responded quickly and he determined the cause of my issue wasn't the OS but a corrupted database. He outlined the process in MM to rebuild the DB, and having done that everything is fine now. To answer Barry's question, I have a 4TB Samsung SSD installed inside the BDP3 for my music files, and I have that drive also set as a scratch drive.

So once again, thanks to Adam and James and all at Bryston for the first class service. I don't take it for granted.
