Danny can you go over the differences in these speakers?

I would be interested in that too - how the sound differs.

Take an X-LS Encore and add steroids and you have the Encore Extreme.

Seriously though, everything is taken up to a new level over the original Encore.

Check out the new video: https://youtu.be/ADIEEMQFaqs?si=4R9Kf6O0FGldU9LZ

Compared to the standard X-LS Encore, they exceed them significantly in all aspects of imaging, layering, placement of things in the sound stage, etc. Clarity and detail levels are also improved. The whole sound stage opens up and fills up the room.

Now, as for the new NRD Allie and Maddie models....

They take everything to yet another plane of existence.

They are time and phase coherent and allow everything to arrive in perfect time.

Vocals are also the best that I have ever heard form any speaker.

They are super emotionally involving and draw you in making you want to just keep listening to music.

They are my new favorites.

We've all read generous praise for the NRD speakers, from both Ron and Danny. They extoll the accuracies of vocals, imaging, treble and midrange reproduction, etc., but I haven't heard much about scale.

I realize that to achieve large scale, it usually means large speakers, and the Maddies (the ones I'm interested in) are not particularly big. Is there anything to say about how big a soundstage these throw? My Golden Ear Tritons are nice speakers in every way, but the sound picture they create is...umm...medium at best.

Short of actually visiting Danny and GR Research (which I want to do since I have family in DFW), what assurances are there that the Maddies would outperform my GE's? Do I simply need to wait on third-party reviews?

These will fill the room and scale everything within the sound stage better than anything.

Well, you might as well asked me how my Smart Car performs compared to my Corvette.

Easiest way is buy Maddies and wait to sell your GE speakers until after you hear the new ones. Absolute worst case you sell maddies at a tiny loss for shipping and get to putz around with new toys for a few weeks.

I just listened to “Stairway to Heaven” on the Allies and I can’t believe how wide the soundstage is! Sounds are coming from far away from the speakers like the other sides of the room. :o

Yep, they will do that, and focus everything to exactly however it was mixed. Placement of images in the sound stage are spooky good.
