Found my Sony- MDR- V600 Headphones
« on: 7 Apr 2026, 10:18 pm »
Found my Sony MDR- V600 headphones last night. They went missing around the time my ex-girlfriend moved out. I figured she took them but here they were in a tub container containing books.
Initially when I plugged them into my bluetooth headphone amp they sounded like crap. But after tweaking my computer app OMG! These cans freq. response 5hz - 30,000 khz can really put out the bass which I have boosted to +6. Also added a slight surround sound effect. So I listen to tunes all through the night they sounded so good. Bettering my IEM Yamahas and Beyerdynamics Custom Studios, I think I paid somewhere around $150 cdn for them.

The EQ band at 16kHz is not useful, there is no musical instrument that reaches this frequency; the piano highest note is 4186 Hz.

However in the 10-11kHz range is necessary to have a control to attenuate several dBs in order to enhance the soundstage.

While 4k is the highest fundamental frequency, the harmonics will easily reach 16kHz and that will affect the tone you hear.

Granted, it's been several decades since my ears could hear that high...

Cymbals have a frequency range of 300 Hz to 17 kHz, mostly overtones in the higher end of the range.

I'm also listening at 24 bit 96k at loud levels, almost too loud, bordering on going deaf. Don't perceive harshness, just clear, bright sound spectrum that is articulate. 8)

Piano and Cymbals are instruments rich in high freq harmonics when played live, when listened in a home system or headphone through a recording by a tweeter, + crossover, after microphones, connectors, a usually long run of cables, a usually cheap mike pre-amp and a digital recorder these harmonics are drastically reduced which makes them easily recognizable as a recording, not the actual instrument.

Cymbals harmonics are specially difficult to listen in Metal bands.
