Redux Redux (2025) - taut, sci-fi parallel universe revenge fueled quest

WGH

Irene Kelly (Michaela McManus) travels between parallel universes, not for fun but to find a universe where her daughter was not kidnapped and murdered, and to kill the kidnapper over and over and over again. Irene has been at this a very long time.

Each jump into a parallel universe takes her to the exact same place she jumped from, the location and people are the same but the details are slightly altered, each universe has it's own time line diverging from the one she originally started at (00). The film starts with a woman apathetically watching a man who’s tied to a chair and burning to death. We can tell she has done this before, showing as much emotion as taking out the trash. Irene is exhausted but also has a determined intensity to find her daughter and kill the bastard.

But a jump into a new universe changes Irene's solo journey. She enters a universe whose seemingly minor change is drastic. Upon entering the kidnapper's home, she discovers a 15-year-old Mia (Stella Marcus) tied-up and in need of help. Mia is a runaway, been in foster care her entire life and has a hardened attitude. The chance encounter changes both the women.

Irene's parallel universe machine, a sturdy box that can do 1000 jumps before needing a new fuel core

Michaela McManus is an actress you have seen before but can't remember where. She has been in Memory of a Killer, The Orville, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2008-2023), and different CSI spinoffs. Her movie career is just taking off.
