Danny, will you have a room at either LSAF or SWAF to introduce your new speakers?

No, right now doing shows just doesn't make sense for us.

I know, those are fairly local shows, but the time and logistics involved.... Augh.

I have quite a few people that went to SWAF make the drive up for a visit last year. I bet I have quite a few more this year.

We reach more people in the first hour of a YouTube video release then we can get through our room at a show for the whole show.

I must admit the Maddie deserves a lot more conversation than it’s received. I’m surprised by the lack of conversation. I’m ending the honeymoon period with them and enjoy them more each day.

I would love to hear the Maddies, and I'm tempted to order them "sound unheard"

I purchased my NX-Studios "unheard" and haven't regretted that decision once in 4 years.

I was listening The MOFI CD of Cream- Disraeli Gears last night on my Allies and believe me, these speakers are something very special!

Congrats.  I would love to hear a pair.  My son and I would love to go to one of the Texas audio shows and visit GR. My son would like a new pair of speakers but he has to hear them first and I do not blame him.

Thanks guys!🙏
I think the Bully’s are extremely clean and clear. Everything sounds great on them. I think they excel on drums. Drums sound very realistic and three dimensional.
The Allies excel at vocals. The sound is smaller and more intimate. Vocals have a holographic almost tube like quality. I am using the subwoofer section of the Bully’s with them for a total of four subs!🤟👊👍🤘🎸🤩

Given the stated reason for the no return policy:

"GR Research is a small, direct-to-customer manufacturer. Each speaker is built and packed individually, and because of the size and shipping costs involved, we are not able to offer a no-questions-asked home trial like large online retailers."

It would seem logical to allow returns if the buyer paid for shipping.  Shipping to my location would be $240.  So, if I returned them, it would have cost me $480 for the trial.  That's not trivial and would prevent most, if not all, non-serious buyers.  I know I would only take that risk if I was as sure as I could be that I intended to keep them.  After 55 years in this hobby, I have learned that there is no possibility of assessing the fit for any product without in home trial with differences in room, equipment, and subjective preferences.  I have had my share of purchasing something with unqualified rave reviews only to find that it wasn't going to work out for me.

I hope GR-Research will consider this.

Thanks........Pete

I'll consider it.

What I don't want to do is open things up guys out there in audio that buy and return gear with no intent to keep it. Then I wind up with used speakers that have been beat up in shipping.

I am about to launch a less expensive Encore Extreme model. They are a lot lighter weight and easier to ship. I will try a 30 return policy with them and see how it goes.

Graham Slee has a loaner program for their equipment. Granted, most of their products are less expensive and easier to ship but, it could be possible with the Allie with the proper shipping crates.  You could offer an incentive to anyone who completes a purchase to help offset the shipping costs.  Of course, you would probably want to collect a security deposit given the value of the speakers.

They require the loanee to cover the shipping fully insured.  Since you are shipping it off to the next person to demo, it cuts down on shipping costs.  You are not shipping it back and forth.  Yes, you would have to sacrifice a pair of speakers to the program, but it would give people a chance to hear them before they fork over 4K+.  The demo speakers could also be sent in a more durable finish.  A hard shell travel case/shipping crate is around 1K that should be able to ship via ground and not freight and would keep the speakers safe.

I had a good experience doing this multiple times in the past, so I wanted to pass it on.  (And I did make a purchase)

Just me, but I would not be inclined to offer a return policy.

Even if everything goes perfectly, you’re left with a used speaker. And the next try-before-you-buy’er will want to try a new speaker…which may lead to another used speaker. Now you’re selling used speakers at a lower margin than new speakers.

As long as I’ve been on these forums, rarely do I hear positive outcomes w/ respect to shipping insurance.

Sure, I may miss out on a customer or two, but I’d rather take that risk over that from a return policy. Just me.

Perhaps a restocking fee?  Not a wimpy one either, like 25% or more to offset the losses on returns.  This should also reduce the tire kickers.

I went for it despite no returns.  Everything points to the positive, so I'm hopeful.  I ordered a pair of the Allies in walnut.  I'll post impressions after receiving and breaking them in.  So two to three weeks if they ship soon!
