IA-9XG + DAC-9X?
« on: 27 Feb 2026, 05:51 pm »
I recently got a SECOND NuPrime DAC-9X for a great price. Pretty excited about it since I've really enjoyed the other one I own, which is paired with an STA-9X that I purchased during another recent sale.

I'm just wondering if the new IA-9XG would be a good pairing with that DAC or if the STA-9X is still the best way to go? It'll be for a small room, with small speakers, a sub and a turntable. Also going to use it for streaming, which is how I listen to music most of the time. Seems like the IA-9XG would be perfect for that scenario, but just wanted to check in with the experts. Thanks in advance!

Since you already have the STA-9X, I strongly suggest you get the IA-9XG.  You will thank me for it.  :thumb:
Don't worry about having two "preamp" in the chain. You can fix the volume on DAC-9X and use IA-9XG for volume control.

Well, I guess it's time for me to start saving then! I'll be sure to update this thread once I get it and break it in. Thanks again for the advice!

I read your comment in another topic that you were thinking of bridging STA-9X for two mono amps with DAC-9X.
Tough choice.  If you are planing to use STA-9X in another system, then it make sense to get the IA-9XG to pair with DAC-9X.
I think it comes down to whether you need the extra power of the mono (bridged) STA-9X.

Yes, I have two DAC9Xs. I already have an STA-9X for one which I use for streaming in the living room with a Holo Audio Red and some DALI Rubicon 2s. I have a Roon server that I stream exclusively from. I plan on eventually getting a second STA-9X and bridging them. Do I need the extra power? Maybe not, but I'm willing to try it out and hear for myself.

The second DAC-9X will be for a small spare bedroom/office. I use some DALI Menuet SEs in there, with a REL T/5x sub (you can kinda see in my profile pic). Also have a turntable. That's where the IA-9XG will live.

I think IA-9XG is better put to use with Rubicon 2S.  The STA-9X can go with Menuet SE in the office and that's all you need.
Let us know when you compare the two.

I also planned to buy an STA-9X for my DAC9X. However, Nuprime's founder, who seems to handle their customer service from time to time, suggested I should go with the IA-9XG, and so I did. I'm very happy with this amp! Since you also have a turntable, I can tell you that IA-9XG's phono preamp is very good.

That's me  :D.  The DAC-9X + STA-9X is best for digital system where you have streamers or want to use LP10 Nuprime Edition for DAC-9X.
IA-9XG + DAC-9X is best where analog is an important source.

Hello
I have an IA 9X. Really happy with.
Maybe it's possible to upgrade with the new power supply?
If so, how do you send the amplifier safely?
Thank you very much, and congratulations on the new version of this device.
