Hi,

Does somebody know what kind of cable has been used for the connection between the MPS-1 power supply and preamp like a BP25?

It's some kind of DIN. Maybe somebody has schematics of this cable?

I recently looked at the opportunity to buy a good second hand BP25, so I also did some Research on the schematics.

Please find attached a schematic which shows the interior of the MPS-1 and the hookup of the 5 pin Din cable to the BP25.

I don't know the wiring diagram (have not looked) but there's thinks one can buy with that type of connector like -  https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8533   or if one is into doing it themselves  -   https://www.parts-express.com/search?keywords=5%20pin%20din%20cable&order=relevance:desc

There are companies that make multi-conductor cables to make them with (e.g. Belden) which are sold by distributors of the products (e.g. Mouser, newark.com, allied wire and cable, etc.)

What I could find on the net the MPS-2 has a 6 pins plug, the MPS-1 a 5 pins plug, but is it has to be a specific (female plug):

-  A local competent technician can fabricate a suitable Bryston MPS1 <--> BP25 Power Supply Cable, as also stated previously by others.
-  Also, there are commercial companies who provide this service.

The BP25/MPS-1 schematic provided earlier shows the required hookup.

Pin 1 = +  24V DC               RED WIRE
Pin 2 = 0V   / Earth chassis   WHITE WIRE
Pin 3 = - 24V DC                 BLACK WIRE
Pin 4 =  Power Up                           GREEN WIRE
Pin 5 =  Not Used

PS.

IF you do not have to /want to  switch on Auxilary Power Amp(s)  with your BP25, you do not need the green wire (IMHO).

Hi,
I have never seen a BP25 /MPS1 in real life.
I only judge from the BP25 operation and service manual.

The plug which you showed from the Canuck MPS 1 is for sure


A round female 5 pin DIN  plug

It could be a 180 deg , used in European audio equipment or a 270 deg  one.
Less common, but maybe Bryston selected that form factor to make the MPS1 more idiot proof.

I would bet on the 270deg version,

But better enquire at a Bryston Dealer

The operation manual of the BP25 seems to indicate a 270deg version, but , hard to judge because it is a  simple line drawing.
