I owned a complete Shindo system for a number of years. The build quality is excellent and the designs are well established. The key to getting exceptional sound with Shindo is not dropping one piece, such as a preamp, into your system hoping for glorious sound. Ken Shindo (he has passed away) always intended for his preamps, amps, speakers, cables and even his turntable to be used together. If you are going to spend this kind of money I would recommend you travel to a dealer and spend considerable time listening to a Shindo system. And then, OF COURSE, if you decide to buy use that dealer for the purchase. If you can't or don't want go whole hog (which is understandable) then buy a Shindo preamp, a Shindo amp and Shindo cables to be used with high efficiency speakers. Once the sound locks in you'll know why people really love this equipment.
