Hi,
If I buy a Bryston BDA3 can I hook up my tv HDMI earc output into one of the Bryston BDA3’s HDMI inputs to listen to my TVs two channel sound through my stereo?
Thanks

My listening room and system were originally set up for 7.2 channel use, including a 4K projector and motorized screen. Over time I decided to prioritize my first love, which is high quality 2-channel listening, including changing the Bryston surround processor for a BP-19.

The system includes a BDA-3. The HDMI inputs were a huge benefit, and still are. I still use the projector occasionally for concerts, movies etc. and it works very well. The Oppo blu-ray player has two main HDMI outs, the first is A/V and the second is audio only. Both are connected to the BDA-3, with the A/V providing the video pass-through signal to the projector, and the audio-only provides the audio.

I can also use the Oppo to play SACDs, DVD-A and CDs via the HDMI to the BDA-3, although I rarely do.

The Oppo Audio Only out is labelled just that, not e-Arc. I may be missing something, but I assume they're functionally the same thing.

No the BDA-3 doesn’t support the enhanced audio return channel (eARC) nor does it support the old ARC feature either unless they have made a mid-cycle update

Now I’m really confused.
Maybe James will chime in.
