Self Introduction
« on: 9 Feb 2026, 03:43 am »
Hi Everybody
In 1999 I met Peter Litwack. He ran an high end hi fi shop in Sausalito he called Music By Design. In the process of becoming fast friends, Peter turned me on to Klaus and Odyssey. Peter had a number of wealthy clients in the Bay Area. He freely gave me the benefit of his considerable knowledge and skill in establishing a kick ass sound system that performs at three times its value (his estimate). Thank goodness as otherwise I couldn’t afford it. Two years ago COVID took Peter out. I lost my friend and my audio master. It has scared me because I didn’t understand how he put my sound system together. I was scared to death that when my system went down I couldn’t get it back up. I’ve had some challenges, but so far I’ve managed. CHATGBT has helped and lead me here. Basically I’ve been a happy sonic camper for over 25 years and with your help hope to keep improving the quality of my musical life.  I love jazz and Classical American Music. My system is NAIM HDX, Synology, Roon Nucleus Plus, Chord DAVE, Odyssey Tempest, Odyssey Kismet, Focal Sopra speakers. And some kind of switch. I look forward to getting to know you.

welcome.  klaus has many loyal customers, even ones like me who sold his kismet amps because I wanted to hear EVERY single type of amplifier, but know one day I'll probably come back and get a new kismet maybe in 2030 :)

Welcome to AC.  That is a very nice system!  I don't know if you've heard, but Klaus has a new "Statement" amp coming out under the "Meilenstein by Odyssey" name.  From early reviews here, it beats the Kismets handily in every way.  That is saying a lot, because the only comparison to higher-dollar amps was when I went into a high-end store and heard some huge Macs driving some big B&W's and upon returning home, I enjoyed the sound of my Kismets driving my LRS's better than the system in the store (which depending on the source was probably 4-5X the cost of mine). I know, audio showrooms aren't the best place to hear equipment, but my room is untreated and VERY challenging as well, so I consider it a pretty fair comparison.

You can read more about Klaus's new monster amps here:

Thanks Jeff. Interesting sounding amp, the statement. I am also following the Quartet M Scaler. Rob Watts said it would cost more than the DAVE. made me think the upcoming release of the Quartet may have a good effect on the price of the existing M Scaler. Interesting reading about Statement. Thanks for the link
