I don't know if anyone else has ever pondered this question, but there seems to be a whole lot of views of posts vs replies. It's not just here either, it's on all the Audio sites I frequent. Either the number of views each post gets are wildly inaccurate, or High Fidelity Audio is the domain of stealthy shrinking violets. I'm not sure why, but it's almost offensive that thousands could view a post and only 5 or 6 reply, and it's often only the same 5 or 6 providing the sites with a pulse.. Anybody with some theories about whether these numbers are actually accurate, and if they are you viewer only types are a bunch of weirdos. :icon_lol:

The visitor counter is correct; the views are from robots and spies from google, MS, Meta etc and from the Gov to watch what you are doing.
Government Monitoring Programs - Mass surveillance projects, frequently revealed in intelligence leaks.

PRISM (NSA - USA): Program that collects data directly from the servers of large technology companies (Google, Facebook, Apple, etc.).

TEMPORA (GCHQ - UK): System that intercepts large amounts of traffic from transatlantic fiber optic cables.

Netra/CMS (India): Designed to track online communications, VoIP, and social networks in real time.

Three Smurfs (GCHQ): "Dreamy Smurf" can activate a switched-off phone; "Nosey Smurf" remotely turns on the microphone.

AudioCircle always has more visitors than members.

I post movie reviews in the Cinema Circle, most reviews get 1,000 - 3,000 views but once in a while a movie or actor gets wildly popular, the search engines or AI put the review at the top of the page and the view count goes wild. Looks like anything with Nicolas Cage as the subject goes viral.

The "Butcher's Crossing (2023) - Nicolas Cage Goes Buffalo Hunting" review got 46,959 views and 0 replies.

I don't know if my viewing habits are common, but I only comment on 1-2% of what I read/view.

The majority of users are passive consumers of content; once their information needs are met, they see no reason to contribute.
