MLB 2026
« on: 1 Feb 2026, 11:06 am »
Let's talk MLB with it now being February 2026.
I'm excited with the Toronto Blue Jays Roster. Too Bad we lost Bo Bichette, I wanted him back. But acquiring Okamoto should replace what Bichette brought to the table. Santander is the question mark for me, he didn't do well in last seasons playoffs. Hopefully he will return to form in pre-season. If not there are other players on the Roster ready to take his place.
I expect the Blue Jays to be a contender for the 2026 Pennant right out of the gate. So much so that I'm going to subscribe to SportsNet to watch most of the games. I had cancelled last season because they were so awful as a team the year before.

Could be a Lockout mid-season as some team owners want a salary cap. Let's hope they get the issue resolved without shutting down play.

SF Giants pitchers and catchers report a week from Tuesday.
I’m most interested in how the clubhouse and dugout take to college hire Tony Vitello.  Buster Posey has a lot of personal capital with the fans so I expect an extended grace period.

Blue Jays pitchers report to camp early sporting the same beards. So you will have to look carefully to know who is pitching. 5 respected Starters, so we should win our share of games with just good pitching. They didn't sign Bassit who went to Baltimore, not sure why, maybe age. He was a solid Starting pitcher but would occasionally throw a bad pitch across the plate.
Santander is out for at least 5 months with rehab. So hopefully someone on the Roster is going to step up and provide the bat that we are sure to need to drive in runs. If not they will make good trade bait.

It was fun having Verlander with the Giants for a year but wish him the best in his return home.

We traded for Jesus, could be the bat we need. I'm guessing that he will be playing RF in Luke's spot. Jesus Sanchez is one of those batters that can foul off a pitch until he gets the pitch he wants. :smoke:

Fugly start for my Giants at home against the Yankees.  :duh:
First MLB regular season ABS challenge upheld a called strike. Plenty of highlights for the Yankees fans including mic’ing their 2nd baseman while on the field.  The guy’s a hoot.

Since the Pirates were in the feature opening day game I thought I'd give baseball a chance.  Paul Skenes knocked out in the first inning and the fielders looking like the team should be scouting little league teams for talent and I'm out early.  I watched a bit of the Dodgers game, my first love was a kid, and they looked like professional ball players, amazing plays from both teams, great pitching for the first few innings, home runs breaking open the game, it was fun.  Sadly that won't be the case in Pittsburgh, again.

Nice start for Skubal and the Tigers.  The rookie McGonigle has the potential to be truly great. Time will tell, but 4 hits in his first MLB game isn't a terrible start.

Go Yanks and Twins!!!!!

Unfortunately, I don't see anyone beating LA again.  They are too stacked, but its baseball, you never know what is going to happen.

Blue Jays lay and egg losing to Chicago White Sox 3 to egg, to also get swept in the series.
I don't expect the Jays to beat the Dodgers in the next series so already it's looking grim for the Jays coming out of the gate, where I was expecting 'em to be out front.

Fortunately it’s a long season.  At least I hope a long season brings fortune.

In addition to the Dodger gauntlet, there's a Yankee team (as usual) in the headlights.  Both teams should be out there in October.

Phillies off to a lousy start, can't hit left handed pithing to save their lives. Harper might be headed in the wrong direction, Stott and Bohm struggling. Perhaps they are getting their 'slump' out of the way early ?

How bout that mega million 19 year old short stop the Pirates signed..... :o

Blue Jays lay another egg to claim Cellar position in A.L. East.
Suarez was too much for them, probably why he wears a diamond necklace.

Easy stomach, easy.
