Not to nitpick here but people implying that something they have not listened to yet, can be bested by something else. You simply do not know as you have not compared them side by side.
I am sure I am going to get flamed here for my comment, this is why I always say to people go and listen for yourself rather than relying on what people say on forums. Most people on forums are just saying what they think and most of the time it’s not based on personal experience / fact.
Actually, we can predict the sound quality of these speakers from decades of personal experience, compared with what Danny offers. Here's what is 99% assured:
1. Emotiva built these speakers to a price point
2. This isn't Emotiva's first foray into building speakers, so we have some history to draw from
3. The crossover parts quality isn't likely to be very high (see pic below from Emotiva's website)
4. The crossover design can likely be improved
5. The insulation (if any) can be improved (No Rez!)
6. The binding posts can be improved (tube connectors!)
No one, not even Emotiva, would consider these speakers to be "high end." Because the Brute is DIY, it won't be considered high-end either, but its design and build quality are on par with those of high-end speakers. Once you consider all of these factors, the outcome is highly predictable.
