« on: 29 Jan 2026, 09:10 pm »
Ok , first post, I joined cause I have a little project.. but first I have to post this photo of my speaker "board"... Ive watched a few of Dannys videos so when I pulled my woofer out to see the innards I was stunned at what I say..

Can you guess the MFG?  Clue: early 90s construction, floor speaker...

Pioneer CS-G403.  3 Ways with 15" Woofer off that tiny board..   Im going to test them and decide if I want to put any effort into them.

 That tracks, and a nice looking little find there. Old speakers like that had about $0.23 for crossover budget or consideration. I'd be willing to bet if you put some resources to that it could be a fun old speaker. Brace the cabinet, slap in some no-rez, and build a proper crossover even from basic Jantzen/JB/Obbligato parts and it could be a nice project in the end. Or you could shortcut things and send one to Danny for an overhaul. You'll never get your money back out, but we don't get into this hobby for recouping our investments...

The drivers and cabinet are probably on the same quality and design level as the crossover. If so, placement of those speakers is critical -- in the trash bin.
