I'm considering building Bully cabinets from scratch, myself. I have a question about the base that's sold separate. I understand how raising the speaker would be beneficial. Would it be a problem to just build the cabinet taller or is there a benefit from having a separate structure that's used as the base?

They weigh a ton! About 125 lbs. Making the cabinets taller will make them even heavier. It depends on how strong you are.

Ha! Im not concerned about what they would weigh. The fact that they weigh that much gives me more pause about putting them up on bases they might get pushed off of.

So I guess im asking about acoustic concerns as well as structural security.

I got their Finished Classic Stand for Bully in black duratex finish and love it. They're stand raised the tweeter to my ear level when I am sitting on my couch watching tv and also it is a very strong stand. My living room floor is carpet and the bully sitting up on this stand is rock solid meaning it does not wobble around at all. I even have my PS5 sitting up on my left channel bully. I believe that the designed slats is an acoustic benefit.
