Part of me hopes AVA stays obscure...big business tends to dominate...Nicola T is an example...For all the OCD audiophiles out there, when you know what you are hearing is right, you need not look any further... You can expand your appreciation of the hobby, but why? It's about the music.
i kind of hope they get a bit bigger because as time goes on having full time employees etc will give them a better chance for survival in the long term. Things are changing. Also, it's the company philosophy that's most important in producing any product of quality. You need very good QC, skilled employees, and good management. Take Yamaha for example. Few are bigger than Yamaha, but as of today their products are very well built, with decent parts, and for the most part pretty well priced in comparison to comparable Japanese brands. Of course they're not a boutique brand, but of the large consumer brands they're pretty impressive. I think there can be a happy balance somewhere in between, where a company retains the personal touch people love while becoming big enough to show up on radar.
I just want to see AVA become more recognized for the exceptional sonic attributes they bring to the Audio world, because in my opinion they can stand up to any other brand in that metric, and although they've been around for decades there still aren't that many people who have heard of them. I myself only became aware of them two or three years ago, and that's after having hifi interest since the early seventies. Of course I could be completely wrong about all this, but that's my sense of things today.
