These Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G speakers are on sale at Audio Advisor.   I love the white finish.  They are a handsome speaker. No sub needed as they play down to 27Hz and they are easy to drive at 90.5 db

My speakers cost $6000.00. Her budget is max $3500! That is way more than the average person would ever spend on a complete system. I don’t know anyone personally who would spend that amount of money on speakers. If she is willing to spend that amount of money on speakers, then she must have some knowledge of what good sound is. She at least seems to be willing to buy nice things. :thumb:

KEF R5 Meta: https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/kefr5metablk-rb/kef-r5-meta-pair-5.25-3-way-floor-standing-speakers-black/1.html

I have the R3 Meta and they are just a great set of speakers (plenty of reviews out there and even Danny of GR Research said there was not much that could be improved). The R5 is the floormount version. For $2500/pair, these factory refurbs are worth the money. The imaging on the R3 Meta is sensational.

I see that Accessories4less has a new pair of R5 Metas for $2999, which is 40% off (and only $500 more than the refurbished model).  If I was in the market, I would certainly consider jumping on these.

I have not heard of Monitor speakers before. Do you have personal experience with them? The AA website is a horrible mess. I use a 22" monitor and can't even see the product because of the huge banner, free shipping bar, search bar, and add to cart bar. There is no place left for product pictures and info. That site is actually worse than the Home Depot website.

This is an improved version that is 5 steps backwards from a version that was just tolerable.

Hi Don, I have not heard that model of the MA's.  I own 2 older versions of the Silver S1's and they are very good. I have the older S1 and RX1's.  I still use both pairs, the former for TV and the latter for my bedroom system.  I almost bought a pair of the Monitor Audio Gold 300's but went in a different direction with Arendal 1528 speakers.

MA makes great speakers.  What is her listening room like?  If it is wood floors and a lot of windows, go with a warmer speaker like the Dali's.

Great room concept with a tile floor.

Great room concept witha tile floor.

With Tile floors, I would go with a warmer sounding speaker.  The MA's have a tipped up top end from what I have read and may be too bright unless you add tone controls like the Schiit Lokius 6 band tone control and some warmer interconnects like Duelund 16g RCA's.

Thanks for the "tipped up" information. I am supplying remote support. Fine tuning with cables etc. is not a road to go down.

Don, I know these don't meet 100% of the criteria but they present a fantastic opportunity for your sister:

I purchased them NOS and used them for a couple months while my main speakers were being repaired, so they are like new and barely broken in. Fantastic build quailty. Easy to drive with any amp and easy to place in room due to the down firing port. Gorgeous real walnut veneer and hand made birch waveguide. Can't say enough about how good these are. I just don't have room to keep another pair of floorstanders in the house.

She is looking for a common brand speaker that can be serviced here.

Don, I would also look at these Audiovector speakers.  Reviews are great and I got to hear a pair at Audio Perfection here in Minneapolis.  It is a high end dealer.

They sound great and look great.  They are easy to drive at 91db, play down low to 25hz and I think that they are bottom ported.
