AVA preamp misbehavior
« on: 23 Dec 2025, 04:25 pm »
AVA Transcendence Ten (tube, a fancied up RB) has failed 2 x in past several months to switch to internal phono input from another input selection.  CD plays but nothing comes through phono.

Resolved each time by powering off and then on again.  Purchased used from AVA a few years ago.

I worry that this is a warning of other problems to come.  Thoughts?

Happy holidays and I hope our 2026 will find great improvements for all.

Hi jedgar,

Sorry you're having an issue with the T10; this isn't a problem we've seen before, so has us scratching our heads but if you'd like to send it in for us to take a look, please contact us at [email protected].

thanks
Jim

I would spray some contact cleaner on the switch.  It can't hurt and would be an easy fix.

thanks for the quick response.

Jim:  Any thoughts on the suggestion of giving the switch a squirt?  The switch feels like it is operating solidly.

I am in St Paul and had the fortune to bring two items to Frank for on the spot fixes, such as replacing a power switch on my amp. Any chance that this fine tradition of quick fixes continues? Of course only if the fix is obvious....  Thanks.
