How to remove a woofer from Salk Veracity ST ?
« on: Yesterday at 04:35 pm »
Hello Everybody !
I seem to have an issue with one of the SEAS drivers on one of my Veracity ST towers and could not remove it by simply unscrewing all 6 screws and gently trying to pull it out.  Since I did not want to damage the wonderful woodwork, I did not insist.  If anyone had a similar experience but was successful, I'd be very grateful if you could please share.  The woofer litterally refused to budge when I try to pull it either by the ring (with very poor grip) or by trying to pull it through one of the screw holes.
Thank you all in advance !

The usual woofer removal technique it to screw a fat wood screw into the one or a few of the screw holes until it grabs. The screw has to be big enough so it grabs the metal frame only and not the front baffle. Use a Wonder Bar Pry Bar, a wood block and a soft pad under the block and pry the screw up like pulling a nail. You may have to go round and round the driver until it releases.

I normally tape the front baffle with painters' tape around the area where I'm working. then get a small plastic panel removal tool in between the frame and the cutout. Slowly go around the woofer until it comes free. Just take your time and have a firm grip on the woofer.
