I got the bug the other day to parallel my moded Maggie 1.7i s and Rythmik servo sub with my wifes EV pa speakers. They have 300 w plate amps, 12" cones and horns.
The open/airy 1.7i s and sub on their own do great with jazz, female voices, accustic quality recordings. As we know, not so great with rock, upbeat dance and the like.
Took some tweaking with volume and eq so as not to drown out the maggies.
The result, The EVs added power and slam. More drum kit presence and high frequencys.
I over did it abit as my ears were ringing the next day.
Overall it is different and fun for some music, but a bit fatguing after a couple hours. Horns have that affect on me.
Ill keep them setup and play around with them, but not for daily listening.
Anyone else pair planars with different speakers? What were the results?
