I have an old but trusty PC which cannot be upgraded to Windows 11. I understand that it would be better if I didn't connect it to the internet. Is there any way I can control my  BDA 3.14 through a hard connection or must i use a network?

Yes, it call by bryston as the “man cave”, see the link below, you need a cheap router connected to the Bdp, then you access the router and you don't need an internet connection. Hopes that's help., I have use this solution in the past with my Bdp-1. Now have the Bdp-3.

You can connect it to the internet.  Just use it for audio.  I am in the same boat.  I have a custom computer that I built as a music server.  It can only use Win 10.    Also, download Malware bytes and make sure you have an antivirus program and do scans regularly.

By the way, there are work arounds for the Win 11 problem, you just need to know what you are doing.  There are instructions on line.
