DSP nexus + Imersive DAC
« on: 16 Oct 2025, 05:40 am »
I came across the Imersive DAC and it reminded me of the DSP Nexus and wanted to know if you are familiar with this DAC?   Have you ever used it with the DSP Nexus?  They do seem like they would go great together.  Do you have any comparisons of it with the AKM chips you use.    I did see they actually have a 4 DAC setup.

I am not familiar with the Imersive DAC.

The dspNexus 2/8 can have either the standard 4-AKM 4493SEQ or 4-AKM AK4499EX DAC's in the upgraded version, there is no need for external DAC's for the DSP crossovers.

It outputs stereo, not multichannel digital to an external device.

Take 5 minutes and read about it.  It is interesting......

I did look at the website and it is interesting.  I believe the AK4499EX DAC's used in the dspNexus would easily compete in sound quality.

Thank you for your opinion.  I also wanted to ask if AI is helping advance this technology.  I feel  that this will take over passive crossovers and that AI would really speed it up.

Active speakers replaced passive crossovers for decades for speaker systems.   Many pro audio monitoring speaker systems used for music recording and mastering are active speakers using DSP tech.

The DSP, DAC, ADC and DSP software technology has surpassed the accuracy of the passive crossover counterparts and offer ways to improve sound system response at the listening seat.

Some have tried AI for making improved correction data to use for DSP processing, but not seen one do as well as some other standard programs.  That may change in the future.
