I have a pair of 600's that I've had for years. Still sound great.

About a year ago I needed some earbuds, so I bought a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 4's to take on a plane and vacation. I guess they are good, as far as earbuds go, but nowhere near the same sound you get from headphones (almost any headphones, including the Koss Porta-pro's which are still my traveling 'phones standard of excellence).

I have the Momentum 4 headphones for travel.  Using the Sonorworks Sound Reference S/W for Android (which provides EQ for supported headphones, including the Momentum 4), the sound is pretty good for travel.

Typing this while listening to my hd650's which I have owned for 8 years. Previously I had hd580 for 15 years..guess I am a sennheiser guy.

I've always been curious about Sennheiser headphones but have never had a pair.
This thread pushed me off the fence.

I went with a pair of reconditioned (whatever that means) HD650 and they're a really good pairing with my Woo Audio WA6.
As previously mentioned, the soundstage isn't especially wide or deep but the sound is pretty well balanced from top to bottom.
I'm not sure how many hours these have on them so it's possible they just need some more time on them.

I've used Grado SR60, AKG 701, Beyerdynamic DT990 and Beyerdynamic Amiron Home with this Woo amp and these Sennheisers are the best pairing.
The Grados sound fine but they're built to a price, the 701s had a thin sound, the DT990s were quite good and the Amirons are too bass heavy for this amp.
I'll have to try the Amiron on some solid state gear, I think that's what they were meant for.

Thanks to one and all for getting me to stop thinking about them and actually doing something!

Reconditioned is refurbished.
I believe they chaged the 30mm driver, the HD800 used a 50mm driver.
An HD800 reconditioned would be cheaper than the usual $1500usd.

I'm pretty sure reconditioned simply means new ear pads in this case.

Who sold them to you?
I unknow they are selling refurbished Seenheiser.
They are so expensive new anyone can profit on it.

You can order them directly from the manufacturer's web site.
Products that have been tested, checked, and thoroughly inspected to meet the same high-quality standards as our new products, it says.

After a few hours use, the soundstage improved quite a bit.
Freo-1 did not steer me wrong.

Wow Seenheiser are doing the same than HifiMan.
If you use balanced cable the soundstage will increase a bit.

I've put about 8 hours on the HD650s so far and the sound has really improved, stronger bass, better soundstage, the midrange and treble just sound right.
I finally found the perfect match for the WooAudio WA6.
The search is over.
